Its time to sparkle and shine

The party season is nearly upon us.

Is it too early to start wearing sequins?

I've picked out a few of my favourite party pieces.

This fabulous sequin mini dress is gorgeous and perfect for dancing the night away.

I love this star print top from Warehouse, great to dress up a pair of jeans, just add a pair of sparkly heels and you're good to go.

I think this dress is pretty much the perfect party dress, black, sparkly and a flattering length, again just add some gold sparkly shoots or boots.

How lovely is this blazer from Zara?
Perfect to throw over your party dress or dress up a pair of jeans.

This Zara sequin blazer dress is a real stand out piece, I've seen this in store and it could be easily worn open with jeans or trousers with a cami or basic white t-shirt underneath.

The next two dresses are my favourites, I adore both of them. The Topshop dragon embellished dress is stunning and i think it will be really flattering and versatile being a wrap dress.  I'm very tempted to order it.

I have the Zara one and its gorgeous, super flattering on. I'm planning on wearing it with heels, take your pick of colour, and an oversized coat for Christmas parties and then dressing it down with a denim or leather jacket and trainers or boots.

These boots are made for walking.....

Does anyone else prefer Autumn Winter dressing?

Now don't get me wrong I just adore warm summer weather but I always feel so much more stylish and put together during the colder months.

This is the first of four posts looking at key autumn winter items every woman  should have in their wardrobe.

Starting with winter boots. Who doesn't love winter boots? Stylish and versatile, the right pair of boots will work with almost everything in your wardrobe.

My favourite - the ankle boot. Can be worn with everything from jeans to skirts and dresses.  Boots with buckles and studs were in fashion last year and thankfully are still on trend this year.

Firmly at the top of my wish list are the beauties.

Just how gorgeous are these,  I would wear these with everything, midi skirts and dresses, jeans literally everything.

Another gorgeous pair with pearl detailing, love these too.

How about a red pair? Red is the colour of the season after all.

or these black and white buckle boots

I love white ankle boots, another style that goes with so many different outfits

Leopard Print?, because leopard print is a neutral right?

Another style of boot that is going to be on trend this year is over the knee boots. Now put the image of Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman out of your mind. Knee high boots can look amazing with the right outfit. I would wear them with skinny jeans and a chunky oversized jumper, keeping everything else really simple. Or I'd team them with a midi or knee length dress.

Have a look at some of these..

or these

Finally some statement boots, check these out.

or these

Not practical in the slightest but aren't they stunning?

There is so much choice on the high street at the moment you're sure to find a style you love, or like me, be completely spoilt for choice.

As always thanks for reading and I'd love to hear you thoughts.

Lots of love

Seasonal Wardrobe Changes

Does anyone else swop their wardrobe twice a year? I don't mean just stopping wearing summer dresses and skirts and starting to wear jumpers and cosy cardigans, I mean physically packing away one season and rediscovering a whole new wardrobe.

I don't have enough space in my wardrobe to store all my clothes, slightly embarrassed writing that, so twice a year I do a "swop over". This week I've done the Summer to Autumn /Winter swop. I'm sure I don't normally do this until October but its gone so chilly I need to be wearing knits and layers.  You  just know there will be a late summer heatwave now....

This is a fairly accurate representation of my wardrobe, messy, unorganised and well, I just can't find anything so I also take the opportunity to have a clear out of items I no longer love, are a bit tatty or no longer fit.

So where to start...

I literally drag everything out of my wardrobe and chuck it all on the bed.

Then I start sorting through the clothes mountain, I separate everything into four piles,

  • Keep
  • eBay,
  • Charity
  • Unsure
  • Bin

At the end I go through the unsure pile again and try and make a decision, the kind of stuff that is in this pile usually is clothes that I love but haven't worn in ages.

The keep pile is moved to the loft and the whole process starts again with the "new season" wardrobe that is moved down from the loft.

Now this is the fun part, when I bring down the clothes that have been stored away for 6 months or so,  it really is like having a whole new wardrobe, I find things I forgot I had, can start outfit planning with old and new clothes. It really is the ultimate shop your own wardrobe.

This swop over also allows me to see what gaps I have in my wardrobe, I tend to make a list on my phone of items I'd like for the new season, this helps me when I go shopping and hopefully stops too many impulse buys.

The finished wardrobe should look something like this...

My tips for sorting your wardrobe would be:

1. Get everything out in a big pile.

2. Create five piles. Keep, eBay, Charity, Bin and undecided.

3. Be ruthless, if you don't love it can you sell it? is it ok for a charity bag? Anything that is ripped, stained or damaged - bin.

4. Organised your wardrobe into sections. I have sections of trousers, skirts, jackets and tops. this makes it much easier to see what you have.

5. Knitwear and t-shirts are always folded.

6. Make a list of what is needed, for me this season its  a couple of oversized bright coloured jumpers like this one..

One item of clothing I definitely don't need any more of is grey jumpers, seriously how many grey knits can one girl have?

Do you swop your wardrobe like I do? I hope my tips have been useful.

Jumping on the blazer bandwagon

It's been a while, the school holidays has meant the blog has been neglected in favour of fun days out, late nights and lazy mornings, but I'm back and plan on giving these pages a little more attention. Focusing today on The Blazer

Is there any other item clothing that is more versatile than The Blazer?

A classic in every girls wardrobe. A great blazer is a classic and timeless addition to your wardrobe. I can't think of any other item of clothing that will take you to so many different occasions. A blazer can smarten up a casual outfit of jeans, t-shirt and trainers. Wear dressed up with jeans, heels and a cami top for a night out.

There are tons out on the high street at the moment, you sure to find one (or two) to suit  - see what I did there. (okay I know bad dad joke)

Here's a few I've picked out and ways to style them.

Starting with this beauty from H&M

Lady in Red

Red! Now here is a colour that I never thought I could or would wear, but I've discovered a great love for all things red.

Red shoes, bags, skirts, dresses I love them all. Luckily for me red is all over the highstreet at the moment AND is a colour that is still wearable when the weather is cooler (well cooler than it already is, come back summer!!).

Red, its such a a great colour for statement pieces like this incredible skirt from H&M.

This would look amazing for a wedding or a day at the races, but it would look fab dressed down with trainers or flats and a slogan T-Shirt.  I think it would work right in to autumn and winter too with a chunky jumper and boots. It'd be fabulous for Christmas parties to. A winner in my book.

You might have seen this dress on many a stylish instagrammer, and its now in the sale.
A lovely summer dress, great now with flat sandals but i would wear this with tights and boots when its cold.

Another great dress for a wedding or special occasion but this would work on holiday with tan flats and a basket bag.

A great summer top for dressing up jeans and shorts.

How about a splash of red if you want to try the colour, this would be lovely with a black camisole top and black jeans or trousers.

Look at these beauties. Real Suede, frilled and in the sale! They were £59.99 now £26.00

No blog post would be complete without featuring at least one pair of sneakers. These Converse All Stars tick the red box nicely.

Absolutely love this Zara jumpsuit.

If you're not sure about wearing red, then how about this lovely red bag from Mango? Wear with the Oasis necklace featured earlier in the post.

A classic jacket and in the sale. This would work with so much you probably already have in your wardrobe.

Blue Stripes

It seems I have a little obsession, with anything blue and stripey. Like a moth to a flame I'm drawn to anything that is blue and has stripes.

Its the perfect summer print, light and airy and goes with everything. I love blue stripes when they have a print or embroidery over the top. Wear with jeans, denim shorts, skirts. If the weather is cooler team with a khaki or camo shackett.

Here are just a few of my favourites....

This is a really lovely blouse that just shouts summer. Wear with jeans, denim shorts or skirts, white jeans. Throw over a bikini, so many ways to wear this.

How great is this shirt from Zara, wear it 3 ways.

This is a gorgeous shirt dress, wear it over jeans, shorts or as a dress. Its a lovely silky material, lightweight and perfect for warmer weather.

Another great dress, dress up, dress down, I really love this and its on my wish list.
So many fabulous pieces at Zara at the moment. Take a look at their website.

Two very versatile blouses from River Island.

I think these are just perfection! Great for summer, cool and light. wear with tan sandals and a simple vest top.

This is a lovely holiday dress, would see you from beach to bar. Then wear over jeans when its cooler.

I'm really liking the dress over jeans look at the moment and this H&M dress is perfect for layering over jeans.

And for more blue stripe inspiration heres how the stylish ladies of instagram wear it....

Will you be wearing my favourite summer print?

Thanks for reading.
